Educative Coding Bootcamp Review

Educative is a platform that offers more than 230 software courses. They come in 15 learning paths which can help you achieve a specific learning goal.

Everyone can become a contributor and create a course at Educative. But, as publishers, Educative maintains a high standard on which courses get approved.

Every course needs to pass a 3-stage audit:

  • Engagement Audit: The course needs to include interactive elements such as coding quizzes, infographics and illustrations that keep learners engaged and maximize learning outcomes.
  • Technical Audit: The content must be accurate and valid.
  • Language Audit: The course should get an A+ on language, grammar, and consistency.

Educative.io price

You can choose between two enrolment programs: Educative Unlimited and Educative Teams.

The most popular option is the Annual Plan. For $13.99 a month, you get 12 months of unlimited access. The library includes 230+ hands-on courses, and they add new courses every week.

Educative Teams is perfect for businesses who want to train their developers.

The Team package costs $199 per year and gives you unlimited access to courses.

Since Educative is more an online learning platform than a coding bootcamp, you’ll be paying for access to its courses similar to the way you’d pay for other subscription services. Educative accepts credit and debit cards, as well as PayPal. PayPal might be an interesting solution for students outside the US banking system.  Educative also partnered with Github to be a part of the Github Student Developer Pack. As a member of the GitHub Student Developer Pack, you get 6 free months of 60+ Educative courses – a value of over $2000

One of the best part parts of Educative is that you can add certificates you earn for completing courses directly to your Linkedin profile.

To get a completion certificate you must:

  1. Pay for the course content
  2. Pass all course assessments
  3. Spend enough time on each course

You can add the certificate to your LinkedIn profile using the “Add to profile” button. You can find it on the certificate verification page.

The button redirects you to a pre-filled form on LinkedIn. This is where your potential employer can see all the details of your certificate.

Educative.io Discounts and Promo Codes

Educative supports the GitHub Student Developer Pack and the GitHub Teacher Toolbox.

If you’re a member, you can get 6 free months of 60+ Educative courses. These cover on-demand topics such as Python, Machine Learning, Kubernetes, Web Development.

Some courses, including interview prep courses, are not discounted. If you want to access those courses you will need to get an unlimited access subscription. You can also subscribe to the individual course.

Final Verdict

Educative is not trying to squeeze an impressive curriculum into a 4-month period. This bootcamp takes a much more intuitive approach.

The courses are text-based and focused on individual part-time involvement.

This means you can learn at your own pace, skimming along with the things you already know. You can also double back to make sure you got everything right.

Pre-configured coding environments test your skills as you progress with the course.

The cost of a subscription is pretty cheap, however the skills you learn are valuable. Educative is a good option if you have a bit of interest and spare time to learn some new skills.
